Hair today, gone tomorrow…

St. Baldrick’s Day has come and gone, and so has my hair. I joined more than 50 other “brave the shave” volunteers at the Northside Knights of Columbus Hall in Indianapolis last Friday for an evening of fun and fundraising. Thanks to the generous support of individuals and organizations within the  fraternal community, I raised more than $6,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation this year, and the team on which I participated raised more than $200,000!

Thanks so much to all of you out there who contributed to my annual free haircut. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation raises millions of dollars each year to fund research and treatment of childhood cancers – the cruelest form of the disease. On Friday, I had the privilege to share the head-shaving stage with a number of kids – now young adults – and their parents who have won their battle with cancer thanks in part to the work of the Foundation. It was a humbling and fulfilling experience that for one night at least made me feel like all of you – a fraternalist dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities we share.

My fundraising goal was $7,500. You can still contribute to the cause and help me reach that goal by making a personal or corporate contribution HERE. In the meantime, I’m enjoying my low maintenance hairdo and getting used to feeling the cool breezes of Anytown, USA, blowing across my bald pate!
