Alliance/BoardSource Self Assessment

Governance is demanding. Your board works hard to ensure your organization is well-run, sustainable, and true to mission. But are you focusing on the right things? How can you find out? The Alliance/BoardSource Self-Assessment allows you to shift your focus from routine governance matters and candidly reflect on how well the board is meeting its governance responsibilities. Customized by the Alliance for fraternals, who have added questions about understanding life insurance and annuity issues and the regulatory environment, this tool will assist your board in improving its performance and better defining its roles and responsibilities.

This electronic survey tool – used and highly rated by the American Fraternal Alliance board of directors – measures board performance in a quick and effective manner.  The result is a 25+ page report highlighting board member sentiment and identified areas of improvement which can be used in long range planning.

Cost:  $1,015

After your organization completes your Alliance/BoardSource Self-Assessment, you can have a BoardSource governance consultant produce an analysis of the current board governance practices.  The consultant will use his/her years of governance experience and knowledge of best practices in the sector to analyze the raw data from the Board Self-Assessment to produce a written report, including recommendations specific to each board. This will serve as the baseline from which to develop a thorough board development plan.

Please contact info@fraternalalliance.org to request sample pages of the Interpretive Memo that would be generated from your society’s Self Assessment results.

Optional: Benchmarking Data
Cost:  $175

Adding the Benchmarking Data to your Self Assessment Report gives a side-by-side comparison of your board’s scores to other organizations that have taken the BoardSource Board Self-Assessment. (All non profits – not just fraternals).

Focused on performance in nine areas of board responsibility from strategic planning to financial oversight, the report gives you baseline data for board and organizational practices such as key policies, board structure, fundraising practices, and operations.
