Fraternalist of the Year
This award was established in 1984 and honors an outstanding volunteer for service within the past year. It is open to all member societies. Past winners have come from all sizes of societies, many in the past years from smaller ones. Nominees can be any age; the independent panel of judges looks only at the service to the lodge and community. The winner is announced at the 2014 Alliance Annual Meeting, held September 4-6, at the Hilton Austin, in Texas. The winner is rewarded with an all-expense paid trip for two to the meeting and is recognized during the program with a video celebrating the fraternalist’s good works. The winner also has the honor of presenting a gift of $1,000 to the charity of his or her choice.
New This Year! The 2014 Fraternalist of the Year has new criteria, recognizing those individuals who have seen a need in their community and taken steps to address it or have taken a long-established community service and discovered ways to breathe new life into it. All societies are encouraged to submit a nominee for this prestigious award.
