Annual Meeting Day 1: Giving Back to the Community
September 7, 2012If you’re a regular reader of this blog, or have ever had the pleasure of hearing Joe Annotti speak in person, then you’ve no doubt heard him refer to things like volunteerism and community service being engrained in the DNA of fraternal organizations. The positive impact we make on the communities in which we reside is not only the most important element of the fraternal DNA, it’s also the most meaningful. It’s what defines us and differentiates us others in the insurance industry. Today was a great example of this as nearly 100 Alliance members signed up for a special community service event that benefited some children in the New Orleans community. In under an hour we stuffed more than 200 backpacks with supplies for kids attending St. Leo the Great School. Each backpack contained a number of items, including notebooks, markers, rulers, pens, and pocket folders to help local students kick off their school year right. Knights of Peter Claver who are based right here in New Orleans! Thanks to their help and donations from OfficeMax, the Berwyn Group, and Everest Funeral Package LLC, we made a difference in the lives of hundreds of local children. Twitter feed and Facebook page for updates throughout the day because I’ll be sharing information from the workshops and exciting keynote addresses.
