Just Get One…
You remember the “Race to 100” campaign of several years back? That was the grassroots advocacy initiative with a goal of recruiting 100 co-sponsors for our House Congressional Resolution in support of the fraternal model. A focal point of that campaign was an online tool that allowed anyone affiliated with an Alliance member – employees, field representatives, local chapter leaders, and rank-and-file members – to send an email to their Representative encouraging them to become a co-sponsor of the measure, or to thank them for signing-on to the Resolution.
The effort was a huge success as it helped us reach the 100 co-sponsors goal for the first time. In fact, it was so successful that we’re reprising it this year for our “Just Get One” campaign. The title of the effort reflects what we’re asking of each member – to “just get one” House or Senate co-sponsor for our twin resolutions in each chamber of Congress. If we can reach that goal – combined with the effort of the government affairs professionals from Thrivent, Knights of Columbus, Modern Woodmen of America, WoodmenLife, and the Alliance – we can top our record sponsorship count of 108 in the House and 27 in the Senate set last year.
We’re off to a great start in 2019. Here’s a look at the latest co-sponsorship rosters for each Resolution. And we’re just getting started.
We’ll kick-off the “Just Get One” campaign in July. We hope you will promote it widely to all your audiences through all your electronic and print publications. We’ll provide tips and advice for you to maximize the impact of your communications efforts to increase awareness of the need to participate in grassroots advocacy efforts like this and to rally support for the campaign throughout your society.
Effective political advocacy requires the participation of every member. In 2019, we’re making it simple – “Just Get One!”
